Helen Layfield Bradley 1909 - 1979

Helen Bradley was born in Lees, near Oldham in 1909 but did not start to paint in the style that characterises her work today until the early 1960's when she started to paint retrospective paintings to show her grandchildren what life was like in the early 20th century.
Many of her pictures featured people that she knew and some included Helen herself.

Helen Layfield Bradley was awarded the MBE for 'Services to the Arts' in 1978.
